As summer dies, the first boy is found in a shallow grave. More will follow. His hometown has a serial child killer in its midst....

I absolutely love this book. I planned on reading Copperhead Road over the course of a week but once I picked it up to begin reading one evening, I couldn't put it down until my eyes finally closed and I fell asleep. I finished it the next night. Mark Twain said " The test of any good fiction is to write characters that you care about. Mr. Canaff clearly knows and cares about his characters, and in a way that the reader can't help but do the same. I highly recommend Copperhead Road and think it would be a great film!

ABOUT THE BOOK
The first boy is found in a shallow grave.
As summer dies, the first body is
discovered in the woods. More will follow.
A serial child killer is hiding in plain sight in a quiet Virginia town, and seventeen-year-old John Ray knows exactly where he's hiding. For years, John has silently endured molestation at the hands of a coach the whole town knows and trusts. Now younger boys are disappearing, only to turn up violated and murdered in the same woods where John was once victimized. Staying silent is no longer an option.
To stop a killer, John must return to the past.
But memory is complicated, and the truth is scattered among people who each hold a piece of what happened. Some are evil. Some are desperate. Some may be both. To stop the killings, John must confront the people he fears most, decide whom he can trust, and unearth truths that have remained buried for years. The deeper he digs, the more dangerous the truth becomes.
In a town without cell phones, the internet,
or any easy way out, secrets stay buried.
Set in the Northern Virginia suburbs of the mid-1980s, Copperhead Road captures a vanished world with an eerie and unforgettable sense of place, a time when children disappeared beyond the reach of their parents and trusted adults weren't always worthy of that trust. Richly drawn characters and relentless pacing propel this dark psychological thriller toward its breaking point, pulling readers into a past that feels both simpler and far more dangerous than anyone realized.
Some secrets can stay buried for years. Until someone decides to dig.
